PatientEngagementHIT: Chronic care access limits diagnosis and quality for women
It could take women more than a year longer to get a diagnosis for a chronic condition than men, one of several disparities highlighted in the PAN Foundation’s inaugural State of Patient Access report.
An article for PatientEngagementHIT looked at the findings of the new report, which details a survey of chronically ill patients conducted by Harris Poll. The report shows that the state of healthcare access is generally substandard, regardless of gender. While the article focused primarily on the disparities of care by gender, across all demographics and communities surveyed for the report, access to care received a grade of C+.
“Our 2024 State of Patient Access Report spotlights the all-too-common challenges facing patients with chronic disease in accessing needed healthcare—from insurance barriers to medication costs,” said PAN Foundation Chief Mission Officer Amy Niles.
