PAN expands patient eligibility criteria for pulmonary hypertension fund

Today, the PAN Foundation expanded access to financial assistance for people living with pulmonary hypertension, offering up to $3,800 per year to patients with any type of health insurance, including private or commercial insurance and Medicare.

Previously the funding, which helps eligible patients pay for out-of-pocket deductible, copay, and coinsurance costs, was available to patients with Medicare insurance only.

“We are delighted to expand access to care for our pulmonary hypertension fund, so it’s available to more people in need,” said PAN Foundation President and CEO Kevin L. Hagan. “It is only through the ongoing support of our donors that we were able to expand this fund. Their generosity continues to accelerate access to care for people living with serious illnesses.”

Patients who qualify are eligible to receive up to $3,800 in financial assistance to pay for the deductibles, copays, and coinsurance costs associated with their treatment for pulmonary hypertension.

Eligibility requirements

To get financial assistance for pulmonary hypertension, patients must:

• Be getting treatment for pulmonary hypertension.
• Reside or receive treatment in the United States or U.S. territories. (U.S. citizenship is not a requirement).
• Have health insurance that covers their qualifying medication or product.
• Be prescribed a medication or product that is listed on PAN’s list of covered medications.
• Have an income that falls at or below 500 percent of the federal poverty level.
