Medicare reforms awareness study mentioned in MarketWatch
The PAN Foundation’s study that reveals low patient awareness of upcoming 2025 Medicare changes is mentioned in an article on MarketWatch.com about the importance of paying attention to the details when making decisions during this year’s open enrollment.
Medicare open enrollment runs October 15 through December 7, and most enrollees are not aware of the Medicare Part D changes, such as the $2,000 cap on annual out-of-pocket expenses and the new “smoothing” Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, that they may benefit from.
“I think there could be unintended consequences of the reforms” in the Inflation Reduction Act, said Amy Niles, chief mission officer of the PAN Foundation. MarketWatch points out that Part D premiums could be much higher in 2025, and that patients could see changes to drug coverage in Part D plans’ formularies.
