Gaytha & Michael Davis: leading through action

Michael L. Davis, Sr.’s inflammatory bowel disease diagnosis took a large toll on his well-being.

After spending 28 days in the hospital following a major surgery, Michael was surprised to hear that the medication he needed for the rest of his life would take a heavy toll on his bank account—costing $3,500 for a two-month supply.

That’s when Michael’s wife of more than forty years and newfound caregiver, Gaytha, started researching.

Through the relationships she’s built in their Dallas, TX, community, Gaytha quickly came across the PAN Foundation. She called and spoke to a Patient Support Specialist and applied on behalf of her husband for the financial assistance he desperately needed.

Michael and Gaytha have considered the PAN Foundation part of their extended family ever since. “PAN Foundation is a part of our family—no matter what happens,” said Michael.

With their strong dedication to volunteerism and supporting others, Michael and Gaytha now use their voices to further support PAN’s mission.

We challenge all of you to get involved and create sustainable change in your communities. Change the world and change your community.”

Most recently, they attended PAN’s second annual Advocacy Action Summit in Washington, D.C., where they were awarded the Community Champion Award in recognition of their commitment to improving access to care at the community level.

Both Michael and Gaytha also serve as members of the PAN Foundation Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). By sharing their own lived experience around healthcare access and affordability issues, they are key ambassadors and advisors to the work of PAN.

Outside of their community work, Michael and Gaytha enjoy dancing, volunteering, and being active in their faith community.
