Nellie, Living with Asthma

Nellie

"Nellie was in and out of the hospital since birth with breathing issues. At just 14 months, she was diagnosed with persistent asthma, and was placed on inhalers twice a day. When we went onto her father’s insurance plan, we had no coverage for her medicines until we met a $3,000 deductible. We did not have this kind of money, or the ability to get her medicines. I called around crying and fearing the worst—that my baby would end up in the hospital again, and I would lose my job. Through the Patient Access Network Foundation, my daughter received funding for her asthma medications so she could stay out of the hospital and be home with her family where she belongs. This was the best Mother’s Day gift anyone could ever give me." —Nellie’s Mother
