PAN unveils new mission and brand, adds clinical trial education program

Today, the PAN Foundation announced a mission expansion that builds upon the organization’s focus on accelerating access to affordable, equitable healthcare for all.

The expanded mission places greater emphasis on the need for education initiatives that address health equity—providing knowledge and resources to empower people as they face complex access challenges when navigating the healthcare system.

“We believe education is critical to ensuring people can access the healthcare they need and deserve,” said Kevin L. Hagan, president and CEO of the PAN Foundation. “Our education efforts align with and support our work in providing financial assistance and advocating for long-term policy solutions. These three pillars of financial assistance, advocacy, and education are necessary to make meaningful advances in improving access to affordable, equitable healthcare.”

Expanding impact

As a leading charitable foundation and healthcare advocacy organization, PAN removes barriers to treatment, champions policies that expand access to care, and helps improve health outcomes for thousands of people each year—across a broad range of health conditions. Since 2004, PAN has provided financial assistance to over 1.2 million people living with serious illnesses to help them start and stay on treatment and has won major policy victories that have expanded access to care for millions of people.

As we mark our 20th anniversary, this is an exciting time for PAN as we look to impact people and patients for decades to come.

Kevin Hagan, President and CEO, PAN Foundation

PAN’s expanded mission builds upon its history of delivering education on and advocating about complex topics—such as Medicare Part D reforms, alternative funding programs, and copay accumulators—alongside patients, healthcare providers, and caregivers from across the country.

Comprehensive clinical trial education and support initiative empowers people on their healthcare journeys

As part of its expanded mission, PAN launched a new clinical trial education and support initiative aimed at empowering individuals to make informed decisions about participating in clinical trials—especially those from minoritized communities. This initiative includes:

  • A robust, easy-to-use education platform that takes visitors through the clinical trial journey while also addressing the critical need for greater diversity in clinical trials.
  • TrialFinder, a tool aimed at reducing the complexities of searching for a clinical trial.
  • A ComPANion Access Navigator service aimed at providing personalized support in exploring the complex world of clinical trials and resources to address social determinants of health.
  • A national educational outreach campaign aimed at connecting with diverse groups of people who have historically been and continue to be underrepresented in clinical trials.

“Our commitments to health equity, our organizational values, and the patients we serve continue to drive our work every day,” said Hagan “Specifically, these commitments are reflected in the launch of our clinical trial education initiative, which aim to improve access to clinical trials and increase diversity among trial participants. As we mark our 20th anniversary, this is an exciting time for PAN as we look to impact people and patients for decades to come.”

New brand identity reflects expanded mission and vision

With this mission expansion, PAN also unveiled a new visual identity that reflects its two-decade commitment to empowering patients on their healthcare journeys and working towards a future where equitable health outcomes are a reality for all. The key elements of PAN’s brand evolution include new mission and vision statements, a new logo and tagline, and new brand colors. The new brand is meant to be welcoming, warm, and helpful with a focus on accelerating access, which is at the core of what PAN does throughout its work. PAN remains committed to its organizational values of dignity, excellence, integrity, and intention, which continue to guide our mission-driven work.
