HuffPost: This is the most underappreciated part of the Democratic prescription drug bill

“I don’t have to worry about my disease. I have to worry about my copay,” said Joan Durnell Powell, in a recent interview with HuffPost.

The PAN grant recipient described the challenges of affording her medications on a fixed income in an article describing some of the Medicare reforms that were part of the proposed Inflation Reduction Bill. One of the reforms is a hard limit on annual out-of-pocket costs for prescriptions for Medicare beneficiaries.

This article, published before the Senate voted to approve the Inflation Reduction Act, also includes commentary from PAN Foundation Executive Vice President Amy Niles, who leads PAN’s advocacy efforts, including a long-time push for an annual cap.
